Proletariat Takes Plastic
Apparently Karl was advocated extended credit for the masses. If you look closely at his eponymous restaurant you will notice they accept VISA and MasterCard.
Morning Peripatetic
I walked from my apartment near Navy Yard past the Capitol, along the White House, north into the city. I walked 7.5 miles and ended up in Meridian Hill area. Never heard of it but it's a pleasant neighborhood area with many hispanic businesses. I ate at a Salvadorian restaurant and had fried yucca and pork.
Meeting with Haitian Ambassador
Cindy and I were invited to meet with the Haitian ambassador, Raymond Joseph, on Wednesday. We spent over an hour and a half listening to stories. Cindy presented the work of Maison de Naissance. He is a fascinating man who struggled against the dictatorship of Papa Doc Duvalier and was sentenced to death in abstentia for his short-wave radio broadcasts into Haiti. He was the first one to translate the New Testament and Psalms into Creole and is Wyclef Jean's uncle.
