No Child Left Behind is helping low-achieving students, but high-achieving students have been making smaller gains.

  1. Steve, thanks for the link to this article! It is certainly well said. After 29 years in gifted education I can say with certainty they are a neglected group in our system. There is still the thought that 'Oh, they are bright...they will be just fine!' "just fine" is not nearly enough for them! They are amazing kids and need all the support every other child needs in our education system.

    I understand right now Kansas is looking towards cuts in special education funding, with gifted at the top of the list! I just heard about this yesterday, so will be doing more research.

    Thankfully parents of gifted children tend to be strong advocates of gifted programs...and they may need to rally this time!
